Tips for running Pi-Vu Series VMS in Windows Vista/7

We have been getting quite some feedbacks on running the Pi-Vu series VMS software in Windows Vista/7, which users find issues with playback videos, taking snapshots, or export videos to AVI. This is caused due to “UAC” (User Access Control) that was first introduced in Windows Vista, and it has become a standard feature ever since. This restricts access to certain folders for security concerns. This also creates issues for programs that need to create additional folders to save datas during configuration, in which only “virtual” folders are created if the programs were not run with administrator privilege. This results in a possible data loss or creates confusion that users may have difficulties locating saved datas as they are actually saved in virtual folders instead of folders that users thought they had created in the first place.

Below is a short tutorial that shows you how to run our PC VMS in Windows Vista/7 and it applies to the whole Pi-Vu series VMS software.

1. After the software has been successfully installed, the program shortcuts should be created and presented on the Windows desktop

The day has come, the great milestone of this year. We are finally getting ready to make the biggest announcement of the year, the availability of the much anticipated PC-based software NVR, π-Vu Pro.

It’s a software NVR that’s capable of managing 64 brand name IP cameras with built-in video analytic features. A quick highlight of its features:

  • Manage up to 64 network cameras
  • H.264 support
  • MegaPixel resolution support
  • Built-in video analytic functions (Smart Motion Detection/Tripwire/Camera Tampering Detection/Object Loss/Image Enhancement)

Support of more camera brands!!

It’s been quite a while since our last post and it was all because we were busy making better products!! First of all, increased compatibility with more camera brands!!

We’ve recently added the compatibility of the following camera brands:

1. Mobotix
2. Arecont Vision
3. Abus
4. Toshiba
5. Etrovision

The new H.264 cameras from Panasonic Communications will be supported later this month and we’ll also add the compatibility to the Sony’s new 5G (5th generation) cameras in the coming month.

Other than the increasing compatibility of more camera brands, we are also getting ready to launch our entry-level 4 channel standalone embedded NVR!! (More details on this in the next post)

New firmware upgrade to the SVR Series NVRs is also available, added the digital PTZ along with minor performance enhancement.
